Author interview with Indie author Jen Butterworth

Hi guys, sorry I haven’t written anything on here for a while.

Anyways, enjoy my latest author interview with Jenny Butterworth. I met Jen on twitter (like I have met most amazing writers and poets etc), she is sweet, encouraging and just an all round nice person.

Nadine – Question 1 – Firstly, thank you for being a part of this, could you please tell us a little more about yourself?

Jen – I am a Mum of two. A vegan who loves to travel and is always looking for the next adventure. I skateboard, write and hike and also I’m very musical. I can play the guitar and have been in a couple of bands in the past.

Nadine – Question 2 – When / at what age did you know writing was your calling?

Jen – When I was in high school, it was my English teacher who picked it up. I have a very crazy imagination.

Nadine – Question 3 – Where does your inspiration come from?

Jen – I have no idea! It just comes. Music can help sometimes but I just get in writing moods that last weeks/months

Nadine – Question 4 – If you were / had a spirit animal, what would it be and why?

Jen – A sloth, because I actually live life 100 miles an hour but would secretly love to be as slow as a Sloth!

Nadine – Question 5 – If your life had to be summed up by any quote, what would it be and why?

Jen – Life is too short to hide your feelings. Don’t be afraid to say what you feel. I love this quote and make sure the important people in my life know exactly what I feel for them.

Nadine – Question 6– When it comes to characters, how do they come about?

Jen – I just create them from no where? I had no idea how I do but they have a beginning and then as my story progresses so does the characters. The come alive.

Nadine – Question 7 – Could you tell us a little bit more about Rite of passage please?

Jen – I lived in Australia for a few years as a child and fell in love with the Aboriginal culture so the idea came from that but just a more futuristic dystopian version. As soon as I created the MC I fell in love with her.

Nadine – Question 8 – Is Rite of passage based on anything?

Jen – Yes the Aboriginal walk about. Well the idea of becoming an adult and surviving.

Nadine – Question 9 – Do you find wattpad to be a good platform for poets/writers and so forth?

Jen – Yes I love it!! I have met so many many amazing writers who have supported me.

Nadine – Question 10 – During 2019, are you going to try a different genre?
Jen – I have just started a new one so yes! It’s a Mystery.

Nadine – Question 11 – Any upcoming projects for this year?

Jen – I am currently still working on 3 books so just trying to finish them.

Nadine – Question 12 – Is Fern, Meg and Bear based on anyone you know?

Jen – The deep friendship is based a little around me and my bestie. I find that Meg actually has become her a little, so maybe a little.

Nadine – Question 13 – Do you think the dystopian setting lures readers in?

Jen – Yes I love this Genre so much, you just never know whats going to happen.

Nadine – Question 14 – Favourite and least favourite character in rite of passage?

Jen – Fern is my favourite and Clare is my least favourite.

Nadine – Question 15 – What is your favourite and least favourite part of the writing process?

Jen – I hate editing!!! And I just love writing, I could write book after book sometimes but I’d never finish them.

Nadine -Question 16 – Final question, Where can people find you? And your work?
